ALERE v3.2 NEW FEATURES

ALERE PricingSMA InformationNew Features PDF
Enhanced Sales Analysis Report - A powerful new way of analyzing sales is now available with the addition of search conditions to the Sales Analysis report. It allows you to choose a filter (quantity, price, margin, etc.), select an expression (greater than, less than, equal, etc.) and enter the specific criteria. As an example, you could get a list of customers (the filter) which sold more than (the expression) $100,000 (the criteria).

By combining the search conditions with the new Sorted Summary option and the ability to select how to group the data, you can control how to sort the information!

Also new are options to filter and group by state, including the Canadian provinces, distinguish between sales, returns, and credits, and include shipping in the analysis.

Changeable Orders - Sales order shipping addresses and purchase order receiving locations can be changed until the order is complete. Terms and tax exempt status can be edited on accepted orders. Purchase and sales order line notes can now be added, edited and viewed even after the order has been completed.

Supplier AP Distributions - Every GL Distribution List that is set up for suppliers can now have a default GL account assigned to it. As an example, FedEx can have a distribution ID with a default accounts payable GL account different from ABC Corp. who supplies the wheels for the bikes you build.

Notes for Journal Entries - A detailed note can now be added to a general ledger journal entry to allow for better documentation of the reasons, issues, references, etc. that belong to that entry. This helps provide an extended audit trail for complex postings. The notes are always available and can be reviewed at any time.

GL Account Distribution Report - This new General Ledger report documents the various GL distribution templates that have been set up to speed up GL journal entries. It can be printed in either Distribution ID order or in GL Account Number order.

Executive Advisor - Information from the prior period can now be displayed.

Bank Fees Default Account - Bank fees can now be assigned a default general ledger account to use when entering bank transactions.

Discount Setting for Payment Terms - A Discount Type option has been added to the Payment Terms screen in the Managers module. It allows you to exclude finance charges, shipping charges, and sales taxes from the payment discount.

Change AP Accounts on Payables - The general ledger accounts payable account can now be changed when entering a payable. You can even change the supplier distribution ID!

Items by Supplier Report - This new Inventory report lists each supplier and the items that are purchased from them. The report can also show each item and which companies supply them. Each company location can have a listing of the items that are stocked there and the suppliers for them.

Status Tab Descriptions - Click on the quantity in the grid on the sales order Status tab and a description of the item will be displayed!

Order Date Verification - Order dates on all orders in the Sales and Purchases modules, which fall outside the GL period closing grace days or the future period posting limitation, will require permission before being accepted.

State Option on Invoice Register - The Invoice Register report in the Sales Module now has an option to filter by State.

Supplier Distribution ID Option - The Payables report can now be sorted by the supplier distribution ID.

New Sales Pricing Options - The already powerful sales pricing rules in ALERE have been further expanded. Now special pricing can be set up for items being sold from a specific location, for customers buying from a specific location, or both. Product classes and miscellaneous codes can also be used to establish pricing rules for items.

Audit Trail - Audit trail fields have been added to trace the creation of records throughout ALERE.

Hide Order Costs - The costs of line items on any type of order in Sales can now be hidden by setting an option on the Company Defaults screen.

Date Sorting - The inventory activity tab can now be sorted by ascending and descending date by clicking on the column header.

Purchase Order Receipts Report - This new Purchases report tracks the receipts from purchase orders. A date range allows you to check for today’s receipts, last week’s receipts, or receipts for any range of dates. The report can distinguish between purchases that were received and released as a payable and those that were received but no payable was created. Extensive report options allow receipts to be analyzed by item, location, date received, supplier, buyer, and PO number.

Automatic Payment Distribution - During the process of recording a receipt for sales invoices, you can use the Auto button to automatically apply the payment starting with the oldest invoice first until the total payment amount is reached.

Override on Ship From - New line items being added to a partially completed sales order can have the location they are being shipped from changed.

Customer PO Number - Enter the customer purchase order number on the sales order Activity tab to restrict the list to only that order. In addition, the PO number size has also been increased from 12 to 20 spaces.

Control Statement Printing - An option on the Payment Terms screen allows you to control which customers receive statements based on the payment terms they have.

Aged Payables Summary - Now the Aged Payables report can be summarized just like the Aged Receivables report!

Supplier Invoice Number - The supplier invoice number has been added to the Supplier Transaction report.

Supplier Name - The full supplier name has been added to the Approved to Pay screen in the Purchases module. Since the columns can be arranged in any order you want by clicking on the column header and dragging them, the supplier name can be moved to a spot that best meets your requirements!

Voided Check Visibility - In the Manager module a new option on the Bank Reconciliation report allows voided checks to be included or excluded on the report.

Backorder Quantity Visibility - In the Sales module a new option on the Invoices report allows backorder quantities to be included or excluded on the report.

Check Register Report Option - The new Supplier option on the Check Register report in the Purchases module allows you to produce a check register for a specific supplier.

Queued Orders Report Option - The new Terms option on the Queued Orders report in the Sales module allows you to produce a listing of orders for a specific payment term like Net 30.

HTML Manual Help - Check the Use HTML Help check box on the Company Defaults screen and the Help buttons in ALERE will automatically start the HTML manual for you!

General Environment Enhancements - A number of product-wide enhancements have been made to ALERE. They are
  • Tabbing past the last field on a screen now defaults to the Save button rather than the Exit button.
  • Browser search functions now default to “$” rather than “>=”.
  • Reports can be driven by the entry of partial item numbers.
  • Configuration screen now allows direct keyboard entry of variable and modular choices.
  • A new GL error log table (GLERRLOG.DBF) records unbalanced entries.
