Bitronics designs, manufactures, and sells electrical equipment to domestic and international customers. The products Bitronics deliver are highly configurable, relying on combinations of firmware and electronic and machined subassemblies. Products range from digital versions of traditional panel meter devices to more complex networkable products that provide more than 200 different measurements of a power system to the operator's console.

Bitronics relies on two key features in ALERE Manufacturing. The first is that the BOM in ALERE Manufacturing supports line-item references in a form commonly used in the electronics industry. This is especially important because the BOM also serves as the primary manufacturing reference for how to build an assembly. Most of the alternative manufacturing system software that Bitronics reviewed did not have this capability.

Second, ALERE Manufacturing has Modular BOM's which Bitronics relies on to maintain a level of detailed product definition that otherwise would not have been feasible. They then use this information to forecast and pre-build common subassemblies. Thus, vastly shortening the time frame for shipping custom product to a customer. Faster build times means more orders which means more sales!
