The Manager module handles the housekeeping for ALERE Manufacturing. The key features include:

Linking to a compatible accounting system’s inventory file which allows the following:

The look up of inventory information.
The ability to add new item numbers without leaving ALERE Manufacturing.
Access to key settings in inventory that are used by manufacturing.

Stand alone inventory functionality when ALERE Manufacturing is not linked to a compatible inventory system.

Stand alone customer ID support when not linked to a compatible accounting system.

Access to basic customer information when linked to a compatible accounting system.

Reports for inventory and customer information.

An on-line Data Dictionary that details the structure of the tables and reports in ALERE Manufacturing.

Support for an unlimited number of companies.

Control over the order in which multiple companies are listed to make selection easier.

Period closing functionality when a linked accounting system requires such activity.

Multiple date formats.

Multiple time formats including support for Standard Engineered Minutes to three decimal places.

The ability to set the number of decimal places on:

Reports
Bills of Material
Rounding quantity

An option to post finished goods to inventory at their actual cost or the standard cost.

Support for Average, Standard, LIFO, and FIFO inventory valuation methods.

An option to automatically update the work order with the calculated schedule completion date.

Control over driving inventory negative when making material issues to jobs.

The ability to require authorization to release work orders to production.

An option to use work orders and material orders at the same time in ALERE Manufacturing.

Using a Language Settings feature to customize menus, screens, and even different languages on a user by user basis.

Separate general ledger accounts for:

A Reconcile Balances function to find and fix differences between on order and allocated quantities when ALERE Manufacturing is linked to an accounting system.

The ability to assign manufacturing and inventory locations to a group so that MRP (Material Requirements Planning) can be performed on the group.

A fast system reset when recovering from network related interruptions.

The ability to do system wide packing and reindexing of files or to selectively choose areas.

A built-in utility to check the integrity of indexes.

Extensive security capabilities that can:

Require passwords based on screens.
Require passwords based on users by functions.
Allow no access, password access, unlimited access or read only access privileges.
Have expiration dates on rights.
Enforce minimum password size.
Keep a history password use and not allow reuse.
