We are just weeks away from releasing v16.0 of ALERE. The new version contains integration to Shopify and TaxJar, and over sixty major and minor features! Plus, new concepts and their foundations have been laid for ongoing new development work.

For 37 years, TIW has been a company the builds product based on concepts. As a result we have attracted customers who have used these concepts to grow their businesses way beyond their initial expectations. In fact, there are many companies that have consciously altered their business procedures to take advantage them.

This month’s first article is directed at the importance to YOUR business of understanding just what it is that ALERE offers.

Why Concepts Are Important to Your Business

From the early days of ALERE, concepts have been driving the direction of development. Concepts provide the framework on which features are grown. They are the cohesive force that propels ALERE forward. And they have resulted in technological innovations that place ALERE in the forefront of ERP packages.

You are reading this because you are a business person looking to increase your knowledge so that you can better manage and grow your company more effectively.

Concepts like the three new BOM capabilities being introduced in ALERE v16: Variable Phantoms, Adjustable Raw Materials, and 2-Dimensional Formulas. Or the ability to perform single-pass material planning and create transfer orders between different manufacturing locations. Maybe it is true real-time performance, native document management, sales order configuration, or single point entry.

These concepts, and many others, may provide a pathway to solve present and even future problems. Take the time to learn the ALERE concepts and how they can help your company work more efficiently and make more money. Visit the Concepts pages on the TIW Corp website.

Manufacturing Operation Email Automation

Automatic email communications have proven to be a valuable business tool. They keep customers up-to-date, notify suppliers of changes, and make sure company personnel are informed of important information. Now ALERE v16 has the ability to send out alerts to internal personnel when certain manufacturing operations have begun or have been completed.
Your Company Screen
Individual route steps on a work order can be flagged to send email notifications. When the email rule is created, the Action is set to Post and the popup under Document has the choice of either WO-Started or WO-Completed.

The alert can be a key to triggering manufacturing actions that need to be taken.

Adding Supplier and Customer Item Numbers Shortcut

Adding new customer and supplier item numbers can be a time consuming processes. While it can be done when bulk entering the item numbers on the Inventory Item Master Customer and Supplier tabs, there is a shortcut that can be employed during the process of entering an order.
Your Company List/Treevision Screen
On both sales and purchase orders, enter the inventory item number and the customer/suppler item number at the same time on the Line Item tab. When the orders are saved, ALERE checks inventory to see if the customer/supplier number already exists for each line. If they do not, then a message (Shown above in the red circle) is displayed.

Answering Yes will add the customer or supplier item number to their list in inventory. This is an elegant way to add these numbers without interrupting the order process or remembering to enter them at a later time.

Due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, TIW is currently only offering custom training at this time.

Custom training offers a client driven, focused training approach which addresses the specific needs of your organization. At the same time it doubles as process consulting time, which can help to improve your organizational efficiency.

The one on one training may also be used to provide employees with recurrent training, which will assist them in making the most of both ALERE’s core and newest features. Alternatively, training may be scheduled as a comprehensive overview to familiarize new additions to your staff with the capabilities of ALERE.

Session require a two hours minimum commitment and may run for a maximum of four hours per day.
