Job Cost Overview

What is the Job Cost Module?

ALERE’s Job Cost module offers a focused means of tracking and managing overall costs associated with specific jobs, projects, and complex assemblies, beyond work orders alone.

The Job Cost module relates subsidiary orders, including purchase, work, service, and subcomponent work orders, to a driving sales order, promoting a high level of visibility throughout the process. The consolidation of these documents within the job document enables users to easily break down the current cost of a project, track the project’s expected profitability, control inventory, and compare costs to the budget in real-time.

The Job Cost module also offers additional capabilities such as quote material management, a job time clock, and estimation orders.

Additional Capabilities

Quote Material Management

Quote material management helps users generate, distribute, and manage quotes for job materials, allowing them to create RFQs for multiple vendors, then compare and collate responses. Once a sufficient number of responses to the RFQ quotes are received, users can generate purchase orders directly from this screen, with the document automatically associated with the job.

Estimation Order

The Job Cost module also features the ability to generate an Estimation Order. The Estimation Order enables users to create a material and labor list for bidding work, finished goods, or items not in inventory, without adding items to the Inventory Master. Once the estimation is accepted, users can export the material list for incorporation into the Item Master, resulting in significant time savings.

Job Time Clock

The module also includes a Job Time Clock, enabling users to record or scan the time spent on work orders, route steps, or service orders associated with a job. The time clock also includes a separate function that enables administrative users to import time from submitted work order travelers.
